4 Nights, 5 Days

Sample Experience

Day 1

Meet and greet with airport transfer to our guest house in Moshi. 

On the way, enjoy a visit to a local Maasai Village to learn about the local Maasai Tribe.

Dinner at our guest house provided by our cook, Flora. Meals normally consist of both local and western options;  homemade pizza, plantain stew, coconut rice and vegetables, kuku na chipsi (chicken and french fries), spaghetti and salads.

Day 2

8am rise and shine to the sound of a rooster. Grab a cup of rich local coffee/tea and take a walk beyond our front gate for a peak at Kilimanjaro (best viewing in the early morning and evenings)

9am breakfast 

Pancakes and fruit, local mandasi (donuts), scrambled eggs and toast, fresh fruit juice blended by our cook, Flora.

10am 

Learn a few greetings in Swahili as a family before you head out for a short walk around the local neighborhood village with one of our alumni as your guide. We may even grab a few ndizi sukari (sweet bananas) at the local market on the way back home!

12pm lunch at our guest house.  

1pm Parents and little ones get nap time while older kids learn how to make a recycled soccer ball. 

2pm Cooking lesson with our cook, Flora and students

5pm Board games as a family facilitated by one of our alumni. A few local games may be thrown in as well!

7pm Dinner at guest house

Day 3

8am Breakfast at guest house

9am Today we will head closer to the gates of Kilimanjaro (45 min so bring a book or toys). Village visit with one of our students and time to learn what a day in the life of living in a village is like. Carry water on your head, feed the animals and understand options for light besides electricity. 

12pm Boxed lunch 

7pm Dinner at our guest house

Day 4

9am Breakfast

10am Swahili and scavenger hunt curated by one of our alumni and students

12pm Lunch at guest house

3pm Trip to an artisan village to learn about Tingatinga painting, wood carving and responsible shopping that directly benefits local artists. 

7pm Dinner out at a local restaurant.

Day 5

7am Breakfast at guest house

Guided walking safari at Arusha National Park with some of the students from Make A Difference Now.

Enjoy an introduction to Tanzania’s varied habitats on safari in this small and stunning park, which encompasses the 14,990-foot peak of Mount Meru. Look for a range of monkey species in forests, and giraffes, zebras and more against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Evening flight out from KIA.

Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) is right by Arusha.
Flight backs to your home country should be evening flights after our safari (after 6pm).

Additional days can be added on to your safari with our partner safari company such as a trip to the Serengeti or Zanzibar.

Other Important Information

All inclusive rates: 

Starting at $125 per person per night for adults (18 on up) and $50 per person for children (includes accommodation, all meals, transport to activities). Families can stay together in one room with bunk beds or have the option of staying in two rooms (one queen sized bed for parents and another room bunk beds for kids)

Doesn’t include: 

Airline travel, alcoholic drinks, meals out at restaurants, entrance fees at safari park

Fun facts sent out ahead of time (parents can assign their kids to research ahead of time and be the “expert” on the activities for the day)
