About Upendo

upendoUpendo’s name means “Love” in Swahili and she is full of it! Upendo is always smiling and laughing. She was born in 1999 and raised in the village of Same. Her mother’s name was Stella and her father’s name was Elliabu. Both of Upendo’s parents died when Upendo was very young. Upendo is the youngest of four children and has three brothers. Her best experience with MAD was going to the TPC sugar factory for an educational trip to visit a local business to see how it operates. She likes swimming and history is one of her favorite subjects.

Upendo is very mature for her age and would like to be a business woman when she grows up! She wants to visit Idaho to see where Mama Theresa was born and her dream for her country is to educate other children like her in Tanzania.

Read Upendo’s Blog for updates on her grades, recent activities, items she received from MAD, and goals for the future.

Consider helping Upendo achieve her dreams by helping sponsor her!
Upendo’s schooling is currently being paid for this year, but she has many years of schooling ahead of her and needs more sponsorship. Upendo is currently attending the Royal Junior Secondary School in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. She will graduate from secondary school the Fall of 2018, attend advance level school from 2019 to 2020 and then go to college.

  8. Hi Upendo,
Congratulations on your graduation and your good grades in English. I’m sorry you have a cold and hope Pina’s ginger tea will help you get over it quickly. A walking safari and going to Kenya sounds like a wonderful opportunity. I’m glad you enjoyed it. You sound excited for for boarding school in January. I know you will do well. Keep smiling… I love those dimples (which remind me of my sister’s dimples). I’m looking forward to seeing you and your dimples again when I return next year.

    Many blessings,
