About Joseph

josephJoseph was born in 1999 in Mamba Marangu. He has a brother, Peter, who MAD starting helping after a home visit. His brother lived out in the banana trees alone and was starving when he got him. Joseph’s mother and father are both dead due to AIDS. After his mother died he lived with his grandparents (mother’s parents). He shared a small cot with his grandfather. His grandmother was very abusive and used to beat him. She never let him go to school because she wanted him to feed the animals and clean for her. He never had much of an opportunity to go to school nor play before being supported by MAD. Joseph loves rope courses and English. His best experience with MAD has been riding horses.

Joseph would like to be a doctor when he grows up! There is no hospital in his village and he would like to build one and treat his family and the people of the village when they are sick.

Joseph’s schooling is being paid for this year, but he has years of schooling ahead of him and needs more sponsorship. Joseph is currently attending the Royal Junior Secondary School in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. He will graduate from secondary school the Fall of 2018, attend advanced level school from 2019 to 2020 and then go to college.

    Hi Joseph, I enjoy reading your blog. I like the blog as it’s great to see your progress. I hope you had a good Christmas and are doing well in school.

    It’s very cold here in Idaho but not much snow. Laura and I spent Christmas here with her son Scott. I went to see my father in New Mexico for his 89th birthday and Brooke my daughter was also there.

    All is good and take care and make us proud.
